Show Home Co-Ownership Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Show Home?
A Show Home is a placement where a puppy is evaluated and selected as a show prospect based on structure, movement, breed type and overall quality. These puppies are placed with approved homes committed to proper care, training and participation in conformation showing.
What does Co-Ownership mean?
Co-ownership means that Sasha's Elite Kennel LLC remains listed as a co-owner on the official registry. This ensures responsible management of breeding rights, showing decisions, and long-term preservation of the bloodline.
Why is a co-ownership required for Show homes?
Co-ownership allows us to protect the integrity of our breeding program, ensure ethical breeding decisions, and maintain consistent standards for health testing, titles and pairings. This structure also allows us to support our show homes throughout the dog's career. Co-ownership is standard practice among reputable show breeders.
Do I fully own my dog if it is co-owned?
Yes. The show home is the primary caretaker and household owner of the dog. Co-ownership applies to registry status and breeding or show decisions only, as outlined in a written agreement.
Who makes breeding decisions?
All breeding decisions are mutual and governed by a written agreement. No breeding may occur without written approval from Sasha's Elite Kennel LLC. Breeding rights are not implied by show placement alone.
Am I required to breed my dog?
No. There is no obligation to breed unless explicitly stated in the co-ownership agreement. Some show prospects are placed strictly for showing and companionship.
Who is responsible for show expenses?
Showing responsibilities, expenses, and expectations are clearly outlined in the show home agreement and may vary by placement to ensure transparency and fairness for both parties.
Can a co-owned dog be sold or rehomed?
No. A co-owned dog may not be sold, transferred or rehomed without prior written consent from Sasha's Elite Kennel LLC. This policy is in place to protect both the dog and the integrity of our breeding program.
What if my puppy does not mature as show quality?
If a puppy does not mature as expected, placement terms may be adjusted per the agreement, including conversion to limited registration when appropriate.
Is there a separate contract for show homes?
Yes. All show placements require a separate, detailed co-ownership agreement outlining the rights, responsibilities, and expectations of both parties.
